Perhaps one of the silliest lies told by our current chief executive regards hurricane Dorian and Alabama.
I can imagine him looking at some early forecasts and drawing a line in his head that led to Alabama.
This wasn't ever supported by the experts but after all he knows more than the experts, at least in his head.
Latter he included Alabama in a statement about what states could be impacted, probably an honest? mistake that meant nothing.
However it meant something to him and for whatever reason he decided to prove he was right by altering an old hurricane forecast.
This might have violated a federal statute, was unnecessary and simply the act of a toddler caught in a lie, deny reality.
Something that meant nothing now has been blown up into something else.
Why?
Well, he's the dontard.

Loyalty
Well I guess when you don't have any real issues you can always revert to stirring up some racism.
We see the Alabama GOP and one of its child abusers decide to attack a Muslim representative from a different state for her disloyalty to Israel.
Now Israel is an ally and you may or may not agree with all its policies, but as Americans we don't have any obligation to be loyal to it.
In fact the oath of office they took prohibits allegiance to foreign powers.
Now, like I said, you may disagree about someone's views on the situation in Israel and the disputed territories, but I know that even in Israel they have various viewpoints.
So disloyal?
Remember what country you are part of.
The Confederacy lost.

One Less Sex Offender In Congress
The vote in Alabama is encouraging in that we aren't sending a sex offending crackpot to the Senate, which is better than the alternative.
It certainly is a little less encouraging in the fact that it was as close as it was, when we had a candidate who clearly was both unqualified and a child molester.
Still, small steps are better than no steps so we see an uptick in quality come January.
The bigger issue as we move into 2018 is how do progressive issues which are designed to help all Americans get communicated.
Part of the problem is that when you talk about the people who need the most help, it sounds a bit like favoritism.
Take Affirmative Action which is simply designed to provide an equal opportunity to groups that in the past have not had the same opportunity as others.
Well if in the past 99 out of a 100 successful candidates were majority candidates and you decide to reduce that to 90 out of a 100, you somewhat disadvantage 9 previously successful candidates.
If it is a zero sum game, you have winners and losers.
There is clearly still a long way to go in this country to level the playing field and I'm not sure everyone even wants to.
The best predictor of how your children are going to do is to look at how you are doing.
Yes we have some upward and downward mobility, but not as much as one would think so change is a very slow process.
We still have an obligation to try.
