I suspect that this will become a court case as the dontard has made the Pentagon divert money to build border walls.
How much of an impact this might have on the military is difficult to say. It will obviously have some sort of impact, but most likely it will add project to the unfunded list instead of cutting current projects.
Diverting funds to combat a real emergency would be one thing, but the situation on the border is not an emergency. It is more of an emergency for those trying to get asylum than it is for Americans.
Even if a few of the people who cross the border illicitly end up committing crimes, it is not going to be a noticeable increase.
They aren't causing any particular disruptions or presenting any significant danger.
It just isn't an emergency.
Its just a situation that we should address with a sensible immigration policy.
Stop robbing the military.

Panic Attack?
So there are approximately 1500 Honduran refugees making their way through Mexico hoping to escape the dangers in that country. You can read about them here
https://71republic.com/2018/04/03/1500-honduran-refugees-headed-north/
Whatever you think about us accepting refugees, this is certainly not much of a threat to anything. The situation in Honduras is pretty bad and I'm not sure how it is going to get better. If we were to let all 1500 into the country it would potentially open the doors to more such efforts, so I would think they need to be processed like any other such group, but they aren't an invading Army that requires us to mobilize the National Guard.
Is the dontard having a panic attack over this?
It was covered on his favorite cable channel and therefore it got his attention. I imagine they overdramatized it, they generally do so it is now getting an overreaction.
Take troops out of Syria and send them to the Southern Border?
In Syria we are still fighting an oppressive regime as well as the remnants of ISIS both of which represent real threats to our National Security or the security of our close allies.
On the Southern Border we are dealing with potential service industry employees.
Panic over nothing much?

We Dropped a Big Bomb
Well we continue to be at war, a war which for most of us is something we notice fairly infrequently.
Obviously if you have a loved one who is serving or who was killed or inured it is a very real war and for those we attack with our modern weapons it is certainly real, but for many of us we hardly notice it.
The dropping of the bomb call MOAB got a lot of news coverage and whether it will be militarily effective or not remains to be seen.
Our Commander in Chief claims it was but I believe what he says about as frequently as I run marathons, which BTW is never.
Of course I can imagine myself running one, I did run what we called long distance when I was in high school but those days are long gone.
What does seem t be happening is a certain escalation in conflicts both in the middle east and the far east and possibly with Russia.
This is by someone who questioned why we were in those places in the first place, part of that believability issue.
Now, whether the wars were a good idea or not and whether all these years of conflict have made America safer is debatable.
We don't seem safer and we have had a lot of casualties along the way.
Everyone of our boys that we put in harms way is entitled to our full support, the question is why are we putting them in harm's way.
I'm not at all an isolationist, but I'm also not in favor of making other nations adopt our way of life.
If we want them to, we need to make it so attractive that they are unable to stop their citizens from demanding it.
I think since we have been engaged in these wars it has had the opposite effect, convincing many that we are in fact no better than a colonial power.
Defend America at all costs, but the America that is great is one that everyone envies because or our prosperity and way of life.
Can't bomb that into being.

A More Dangerous World
In all honesty the possibility that the United States and Russia would square off in a war is fairly remote. I think enough people on both sides realize who destructive such a war would be likely ending in nuclear disaster.
What we saw in the Bush years, aggressive misguided notions of what we can get other people to do leading to deadly regional conflicts that get Americans killed, encourage terrorism, and make the world a more dangerous place.
It seems like the middle east is still the most dangerous area as a naive belief that Jihadists can be defeated by strong arm tactics seems prevalent at the White House again.
This was the mistake that the Bush administration made when it believed that we could impose Western thoughts on Muslim Countries.
It led to bloody wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and recruited thousands of recruits to terrorists organizations.
Now this wasn't solved under the Obama administration, but it didn't get worse. We saw dictatorships fall in many countries and while ISIS was able to surge it is now being defeated on the ground by Arab troops, not Americans.
We do provide support, mostly air attacks and some on the ground support, but the "skin" in the game is a lot less.
Now, the idea that sending in American troops to quickly put an end to ISIS is misguided since the root issues will still exist and an American presence will surely spur resentment anger and recruitment for terrorists organizations.
The idea that we can effectively colonize a country and take their oil, while militarily possible would lead to nothing but greater danger here as anger would boil over.
The more we provide the terrorists with recruitment materials the more dangerous the world becomes.
It is also important to note that Americans have no special rights when it comes to being a citizen of the world. We also face the danger of being arrogant and stupid in a world where every person is equal.
There is a long history of colonial powers trying to dominate the world, it ultimately fails on every level.
Lets not repeat it.
