The Future

We certainly need to improve testing and research about the new virus but based on recent history and what science tells us, it is likely that new viruses will continue to mutate from old ones every few years.

Some will be worse than others but clearly the world can't simply stop whenever that happens.

Yes we dealt with SARS and  MERS better but this disease is highly infectious and spread outside of containment quickly.

Perhaps going forward we will need to incorporate some of these protective measures into our day-to-day routines.

One thing about this virus is clear, we reacted to it the way we did because of our scientific knowledge.

I don't know how bad it is going to get but as bad as it is now would probably have been considered a bad flu season if we didn't know better.
