Deplorables in America

We don't have any kind of objective standard as to who would be considered deplorable.  I found this definition of the word which seems relevant.

ADJECTIVE
1      Deserving strong condemnation; completely unacceptable:children living in deplorable conditions
      1.1 Shockingly bad in quality:her spelling was deplorable

Now its probably safe to say that considering things we consider acceptable as a society, some supporters of both candidates might qualify as deplorable to the opposition.  Republicans may feel that people who want to have national health care are deplorable.

Now there was some definition as to who Ms Clinton felt were members of the basket of deplorables,

Her quote follows;

"You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”

So the people in the basket would be racist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic.  She took back the half estimate as probably too high, but still considers those people deplorable.

Now the Trump camp has said that Ms. Clinton has said half of his supporters are in this basket.  Of course this is only true if you accept her gross estimate as to how many fit the categories she described.

We all know that he is appealing to these people and he knows it too.  Some people clearly don't fit into any of these categories, but the only real question is how many do?

So if you think you belong in the basket, there's a good chance you are right.

If you are sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, racist, Islamophobic, and don't like having it pointed out, think about the people you hate and insult and how they feel.

And the fact that you are hiding behind political correctness makes most of you hypocrites.

You claim you like a candidate who tells the truth.

You are actually pretty deplorable, get used to it!
